Dear Taylor Families,

We are thrilled to welcome you back to a new and exciting school year at Taylor Elementary.  The faculty and staff join me in assuring you that we have the most wonderful school community, and we are so pleased to have you returning to us this year or joining us for the first time!

My welcome to the Taylor School Family has been so warm, and I feel very honored to have this opportunity to serve you as your new principal. It was an absolute pleasure meeting many of you at the "Meet and Greet" in May. Thank you to those who have stopped by to say hello already, and I look forward to meeting each of you very shortly. I know from meeting with students, parents, teachers, staff, and community members that Taylor is a school committed to excellence and putting kids first. Academic achievement, commitment to safety, and a sense of belonging and community are clearly high priorities.  Please be assured that I honor your traditions and accomplishments and will strive to contribute to further success in the future.

A bit about my background: I hail from Michigan originally, so I am a huge hockey fan!  I attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins for my undergraduate degree. After, I continued on to UNC in Greeley for post-bachelorette work and my teaching license. I received my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Leadership from UCCS. My career in education began as a teacher in Falcon SD49 for 10 years. I served Harrison SD2 as an assistant principal for 6 years. Then, I came to D11 as the principal at Carver for the past 4 years. My husband, Jim, and I have two beautiful children. Our daughter, Micayla, is almost 20 and attending CU Boulder for Mechanical Engineering. Our son, Cayden, is a sophomore at Sand Creek High School working towards hopefully playing soccer at the college level. As a family, we enjoy camping, traveling, and attending almost any sporting events.

Looking towards this school year, I am excited to continue to provide the leadership that will facilitate a school environment that ensures differentiated instruction to meet the needs of each student to the best of our ability. By focusing on high expectations, engaging each student by linking the curriculum to previous knowledge and experience, and also by promoting further exploration through inquiry, we will give our students first great instruction! Parents, teachers, support staff, and administration all have an important role to encourage our children to become active learners. Through a close and collegial team effort with all educational stakeholders, our children will be successful. I am confident we can continue to ensure Taylor is a place for all students to learn and grow.

I am excited to be part of this wonderful learning community at Taylor Elementary! I look forward to partnering with all of you in this new capacity and feel very fortunate to be able to continue my career here at Taylor! Please call or stop by to share your comments, concerns, and compliments.  You are always welcome!
